Unlike any other form of Yoga, a Fountain of Serenity Yoga session is not in reality a Yoga session. It is a uniquely different experience. You come to learn how to identify your sources of stress, manage your stress, and learn how to cope with stress-related disorders such as pain, fibromyalgia, high blood pressure,
and
emotional distress. You will learn how to modify your approach to life so that you may begin to enjoy life to the fullest.
All sessions are facilitated by Dr. Jaime Casellas, who has spent a significant part of his career studying mindfulness in medicine, anatomy and physiology, classical yoga, and life coaching.
A typical Fountain of Serenity Yoga session begins with a centering meditation to calm down the restless mind and enhance our awareness of the present moment. We practice attentiveness to our breath and our body without any judgment.
The meditation is followed by a series of asanas (postures), the complexity and difficulty of which take into account the physical and mental dimension and skills of the individuals in the class.
The session ends with a meditation in the supine position during which the mind explores our state of mind and an acceptance of the impermanent nature of our life.
The intent of the last meditation is to make us realize that every moment of our life is a gift that has been entrusted to us to enjoy. We learn that we are integral members of the universe in which we live, that we are all in search of happiness and freedom from suffering, that alone we can to nothing and that alone we are nothing.
